Have you tried switching between the three focal limiting settings (2.5m to 6.4m, 6.4m to infinity, 2.5m to infinity)?

Also, check the Custom Functions in your 7D's menu.
The general rule of thumb is to use f/2.8 lenses as a starting point for either a 1.4x or 2x TC. If the telephoto end of your lens is f/5.6, AF isn't gonna work very well.

Hi Tetanus, Its probably a repeat question, but I am a bit confused with the permutations and combinations. I would like to buy a kenko pro 1.4/2.0. I have a Canon EOS450D + Canon 100-400 IS lens.

From reading various websites, I am led to believe the 1.4 teleconverter will work with the lens (minus autofocus), but the 2.0 will not be a good idea. Is my reading accurate?

Am I also to understand the EOS 450D camera body can't cope with the teleconverter? If that's the case, which camera body should I be looking at? (I would prefer one with video capabilities, and which shoots faster as I am interested in small birds).

Thanks for your help,
Sandeep

I did not try changing the shutter location since the dealer who should be familar with such problems did not suggest otherwise. I will be calling the dealer again today to ask if he has managed to find any solutions from his sources. I will keep you informed of any feedback. Thanks again.

That's very odd. I've never encountered this problem before. Does AF engage when you set AF to the shutter button?

Hello, I have a 70-200 F4 L is and a 60d with focus(exposure) set on the rear button. I just tried it with a Kenko pro 300 1.4x & 2x, I can achieve autofocus with the 2x but not with the 1.4x. The dealer had no idea why either. Have you ever come across such a problem? He tried it with a couple of new 1.4x extenders. I am from Malaysia.

Thanks.
