“I like this magazine,” I said to Violet as I looked up from the Paulo Coelho article in the SilverKris inflight magazine I was reading. “It’d be nice to shoot editorials for them.”

When I returned my attention to the magazine and thumbed through the pages, something caught my eye, something familiar which immediately kicked in the brains as I sifted my visual memory bank for a sign of recollection to what I had just seen. I felt a mild shock as my doubts gave way to growing certainty.

“Baby! Is this my shot?”

Violet squinted at the spread for a few seconds before her eyes grew saucer-wide.

“Oh my god!” she squealed. “I think it is!”

We scanned the accompanying text, and, upon seeing the name of the establishment I had shot the image for, could only stare at each other, grinning ourselves silly at this most unexpected discovery.

“Is it really mine?” I laughed as I took another hard look at it.

“I was there when you took this,” she replied. “It is.”

I stared at the picture on the page. One small image representing one small step in the year-long foray into uncharted territories, a journey she had accompanied me on every step of the way. As I mouthed a thank you to her, I saw in her eyes the reply to what my heart was silently saying, that there could not have been a more fitting way to conclude the one trip we began on the dawn of our second year together.
